Supplied with original manual The T-85 was Yamaha's flagship tuner in the mid-1980's. It is a no compromise audiophile tuner of exceptional performance. With the T-85, Yamaha attempted, and succeeded, to maintain it's impeccable high-end tuner credibilty, established a decade earlier with the legendary CT-7000. The Yamaha T-85 has the electronic equivalent of 5 gangs and 4 IF bandwidth settings (Super Wide-Wide-Narrow-Super Narrow), and tunes in .1 MHz increments or fine-tunes in .01 MHz (10 kHz) increments. It is exceptionally sensitive (i.e. good at pulling-in weak or distant signals) and is very selective (i.e. has no problems tuning-in to a weak station that is very close to a strong one). It is also a very low distortion design and also had one of the highest signal to noise ratios of any tuner ever made. Yamaha claimed a signal to noise ratio of 98 dB in mono and 90 dB in stereo - these are near-CD figures - truly exceptional!!! CONDITION: This Yamaha T-85 is in excellent overall condition. The facia is virtually mint. It has no scratches worth noting but does have a few minor dents on the top. Please study the pictures. This tuner is in excellent working order and sounds awesome! This tuner has the lowest background noise of any FM tuner I have ever heard. It sounds exceptionally clean, bearing out the manufacturer's low distortion claims. Tonal balence is very neutral. This is a very high-calibre radio tuner indeed! PLEASE NOTE: I have not used this tuner on AM (or Medium Wave) as I do not have the AM loop antenna and I have no interest in AM radio.
