Description
Up for Auction is a pair of EMI monitoring amplifiers from a recording studio.  They came from the base of an EMI rack that featured not only the amplifiers but a mixing desk (Sadly, I didn't get that as well!).  The circuit is a Williamson design featuring a pair of KT66's in Triode.  I'm guessing they will be about 12 watts of magnificent KT 66 Class A heaven! The input/phase splitter stage is the EF37 with anode top cap.  As you'll see in the pics, one of the power supply capacitors is dated April 1952 so I'm guessing they were made a year or two after that.  The build quality is amazing, they look totally over engineered, not to mention their weight of 17 kg per amplifier!I can't tell you much more about them that what's above.  The only other thing I can confirm is that the transformers (Mains, Choke, Input and most importantly, the Output) are all by Partridge.  The output impedence is either 2.5 or 15 ohms.  You can see the impedence tags on the base of the OPT.I'm in the process of selling off the duplicates in my amplifier collection.I'll never get around to restoring them (I haven't even done my first EMI set!!) as I have about 90 amplifiers which means I'll be about 285 years old by the time I get to rebuild this second set!Now please read the following carefully:This pair is unrestored and I have never used them.  These amplifiers are NOT plug and play and I cannot suggest trying to use them without a re-build. As per the photographs, some minor components have been replaced in the past but the amplifiers are largely untouched.  One amplifier has an additional input socket and a power switch, not sure why, but I thought I'd better point it out. If you must power them before rebuilding them, please do so on a variac.I can tell you that the transformers, both mains and the all important output transformers and chokes test 100% so no problems there.  The amplifiers are unmodified and carry most of the original components.  Cosmetically the amplifiers are very clean, especially when one considers they are about 55 years old.  The chassis carry no dents or evidence of being dropped.  The paintwork is quite nice, a few marks here and there otherwise they are looking good, a legacy of being stored in a rack I guess.  The chrome handles show minor pitting.  The massive potted transformers show no dents or signs of abuse.Included in the Auction is the following:  The two amplifiers and a full set of valves as per the pictures. The amplifiers can be run on 205, 225 and 245 Volts. No reserve once bidding begins.Freight:These amplifiers will weigh about 19 kg packed PER amplifier. This means you will need to double the freight estimate becausethey can only be shipped in two separate boxes.I ship via insured Australia Post Air at cost.  I do not charge for packing...and I pack well.  What everthe freight charge, I am making nothing on it, so if you believe it to beexcessive, please contact the Post Office. Please note, I always ship with insurance, no exceptions and this is toprotect you.  Insurance will add about $3 per $100  to the final Auctionprice.  Nothing has gone missing in 9 years of eBay but in the unlikely eventsomething happens, you are covered.  I welcome international buyers but pleaseunderstand I cannot be held responsible for any customs duty or delays because of anyborder inspections in the country of destination. For overseas buyers Australia is not in the USA.  It's not in Europe either. We are somewhere South of you over the water in the land of big rocks, cattle and crocodiles and for this reason, your item will not be deliveredwithin 24 hours of being posted.Note, in some European countries (Germany for example) Australia Post do notoffer the standard insured air freight but they do offer EMS.  This serviceis usually 15 to 20% more than air freight.  You can check the AustraliaPost Website for details if you are unsure, the address is given below.I estimate that the unit will be delivered within 5 days from the time ofpostage for local buyers and around 10 days for international buyers.  I tryto post within 5 days of receiving cleared funds, any delays I will adviseyou. For buyers in Indonesia, I am not interested in trading this item for youruncle irrespective of how big his coffee plantation is.To calculate postage, use the postage calculator that ebay provide in thelisting as a rough guide.  The ebay one is not accurate because it does notoffer insurance or EMS so feel free to try the Australia Post one directly:Freight within Australia:   http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/aus_parcel.aspInternational Freight:        http://www1.auspost.com.au/pac/int_parcel.aspRemember to factor in the insurance which is not included in the postagecharge.I am also happy to use your choice of courier (However you have to arrange this) and it's not problem if you'd prefer to use Pack and Send.Personal collection is also available either in Toorak 3142, Richmond 3121by appointment either weekdays or weekends or Melbourne city, 3000, duringbusiness hours Monday to Friday. No problem to combine freight if you are interested in my other itemsPayment:Personal Collection:    Cash.Courier/Post:  My preferred method of payment is EFT, Personal Cheque, BankCheque and Money Order.  Paypal is not my preferred method of payment, butif you have to use it, no problem.Terms:Goods paid for in full and collected within 14 days from the auction close. All items are sold "AS IS" and all sales are final.  No exceptions unless Ihave misrepresented the item.  If so, you may return it for a refund lessfreight costs.Only bid if you want the item!  You are bidding to buy, not to have firstright of refusal.I do not sell off ebay, please do not make an offer! If you think you may not want the item, do not bid.If you do not understand my terms, do not bid.By placing a bid, you agree and understand the terms and description above. If you do not comprehend this, do not bid!  If you are unsure ofanything...ask!Thank you for looking and feel free to email me with any questions.  Don'tforget to check out my other items and my feedback, bid with confidence.Cheers, Carl. On 20-Nov-08 at 00:04:29 AEDST, seller added the following information: I have found a reference I believe to this amplifier in the Jonathan Hill book "Audio Audio"  If you have a look on page 38 under EMI there is a reference to the 3050 amplifier which is quoted at 10 watts output with triode connected KT66's.  I assume these amplifiers I am offering are the professional version of the 3050.
