Simply put, another MDP-500 looking like this one will not show up for sale anywhere, anytime soon! The history of the player: I'm the original of this fine LD/CD/VCD player & purchased in brand new in 1994 for well over $1,000! This being one of the 4 LD player that I have, was only used in my bedroom set & as a result has not ben used all that much at all unlike the other 3 that were in my home theater. Sadly due to lack of space aftera few moves I have finally decided to also sell this lovely LD player & let another Sony/LD disc collector who has the proper room for it to enjoy. So here also goes! My loss will certainly be your gain! All these wonderful, top-end units have always been LOVINGLY & VERY, VERY well cared for & are in outstanding condition in all regards! They are simply put in ''Collector's Condition''! As mentioned, the deck had a retail price of over $1,000 in Canada when it came out & to this day it has the distinction of being one the bes Sony LD players or one of the best ons that money could buy at te time! Sadly due to a few moves ever since, I no longer have the remote & te manual for it howeverthe player is so user friendly that you don't really need a manual for it & also any universal remote control that you ma already have or can buy fr only $10 nowadays should operate it just fine! Now for the record, here is my complete report on the cosmetic & working condition of this lovely LD player: The cosmetic condition of the deck: In one word, the unit is still in pretty much MIND BLOWING & ULTRA CLEAN & BEAUTIFUL CONDITION BOTH INSIDE & OUT after all these years! Good heavens, it looks almost like a new MDP-500 even from a very short distance!! You will be just utterly PROUD to show off this stunner to your friends as I have been! This very well made player is almost 30 pounds & it is just HUGE (my favorite combination when it comes to video audio components!!). The huge stunning heavy gauge & very beautifully done drk green finish face plate is in just awesome shape and just about perfect with NO noticeable scratches, marks or dents! Almost a perfcet 10! Even the meatl case is in fantasic shape with only some minor marks on the lower paert of the left side of the but even those are minor & barely noticeable! Now I'm a very picky person myself & those above mentioned so called imperfections may actually be laughable by normal people! The entire face plate is just "drop dead gorgeous" ! All the edges & 4 corners of it are nice & sharp & all the ORIGINAL & beautiful letterings are perfect 10/10, all the ORIGINAL knobs, switches & buttons are all also original & also pretty much perfect 10/10 as well. The rear panel cover is also in fantastic condition. All the RCA jacks & the SVHS input are all excellent & 100% original & solid. The lens on the very large display is also beautiful & clear & shinny with no scratches & they just gleam! Now as much as I try to describe the cosmetic condition of the deck by using words, I think that each single large, high resolution picture of the deck tells a thousand words & they really do tell the story! There is not much signs of even normal use on the entire face plate! The technical/working condition of the player: In one word it is 100% perfect. See below for all the details: The deck plays LDs & CDs just like a new MDP-500 would & all the functions & lights are PREFECT 10/10 & all are still original! The player has never, ever been repaired for any reason. The playback picture & sound quality of the player is just fantastic and up t the original specs! All the lights are still original & perfect. All the many knobs, bottons & switches work perefect 10/10 with no statics or noise. All the functions keys work fine & the useful auto-reverse function also works perfectly. So I have for you consideration, this very clean looking & awesome working, ASony MDP-500 LD/CD/CDV player in its original glory condition!
