Description
Scott LK-72, 299D Tube Amplifier, 1963, Rebuilt Rebuilt and serviced, clean example. The LK-72 (equivalent to the 299D model) is rated at a true 35WPC RMS integrated amplifier. Many listeners and users consider this model to be the best sounding integrated Scott amp from the 1960's. Excellent quality output transformers, fixed bias on the output tubes, and vacuum tube power supply rectifier all contribute the the sound quality of this amplifier. Excellent condition, serviced, with desirable classic gold anodized faceplate and gold anodized tapered aluminum knobs. Amplifier has a very clean faceplate with some light wear at the volume control silk-screen and no wear at the selector switch silk-screen. No dings or dents along the vulnerable faceplate edges. Knobs have no scratches on their face from careless handling. Transformers have no rust. Chassis is clean and straight with no damage and no oxidation. Amplifier has been serviced - original selenium rectifier has been replaced with modern silicon bridge. This new bias/filament rectifier and new coupling capacitors will protect the integrity and quality of the output tubes. The original rectifier is unreliable and could be harmful to the output tubes upon failure. Also, this rectifier allows the correct filament voltage on the important 12AX7 tubes in the circuit. Correct filament voltage on the 12AX7 tubes equals excellent sound. All coupling capacitors including the output tube coupling capacitors have been upgraded with Illinois Polypropylene capacitors. Tube socket and controls have been cleaned. Controls cleaned with Caig DeoXit. Main power supply capacitors (both) have been replaced with new German production F&T 500 volt chassis mount capacitors. Metal clamp brackets were used. Output tubes are a matched set of vintage 7591 output tubes. Output tubes are measured and matched on an accurate TV-7. 12AX7 tubes are a fresh set of vintage American manufacture tested on a TV-7. 6GH8A driver stage tubes are a strong fresh set of vintage production. 5AR4 is new production Sovtek. Amplifier is sold in working condition and sounds very good. PayPal—eBay's service to make fast, easy, and secure payments for your eBay purchases!
