Description
A Golden Rule Seller I almost never  have a reserve price. PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE BIDDING:. Fast, honestly low-cost shipping always. Save $$s with preferred FREE local pickup! Please note that I will no longer ship to Italy due to their shoddy mail handling. I found this treasure at an estate sale. The lady said her aunt had bought it in the Far East and had it shipped to her in the US where it has ever since been in a controlled, smoke-free climate. For the sale she opened the top of the original shipping box and the deck box itself. It is an Akai GX-280DSS 4 channel, two-speed, three motors, 7” reel deck, with 7 1/2 ips and 3 3/4 ips speeds plus the original Akai take-up reel. It dates from about 1975 when the MSRP was $608.00.I have just closed the boxes back up and packet it into another box. Now it is triple boxed and quite heavy so please take that into account when you see the S&H. Whereas I haven’t taken it out of the box, tested it, or checked to see if anything else was in the box and because of the age I can only guarantee that if my description is inaccurate you may return it within 7 days of your receiving it for refund of your bid amount.  The 4 Channel sets were an interesting new format for 1/4" tape, similar to a studio deck; it features more than two stereo tracks at one time. All of these sets are considered "Surround Sound" units, which is why their model designations all have the suffix -ss. Some also function as 2 Channel Stereo decks for both playback and recording, these also feature auto-reverse in Play capabilities. Most are later 1970's / early 1980's, and feature the GX Heads, but some are early Crossfield units, and some are non-GX Head versions of the some of the GX Head Sets. All are 7" reels decks, except for the last two the GX-400D-ss and the GX-630D-ss, which are 10.5" reel capable. When recording in 4-channel mode the full-track erase head erases all four tracks at once. In playback, of 1/4 track 2-channel, they will auto-reverse upon contact with foil tape placed at the end of the reel. There is no recording in reverse mode. 25 24 15 66-0 Bid or snipe early and often. Make it yours! I keep my S&H as low as possible and usually ship within 2 business day of receiving payments. Some items must be taken to a Post Office or UPS and I only do that weekly. When I receive the item in AS I SHIPPED IT condition I will gladly refund your winning bid amount ONLY, not S&H. I treat folks as I would like to be treated. Harvey Bucklin hlbucklin@verizon.net
